About Africa Retail Academy
Africa Retail Academy is an initiative of Lagos Business School (LBS) aimed at nurturing a community of experts and practitioners in the African retail sector and providing a platform for disseminating the continent's current retail advancements. The academy also offers asynchronous programmes and short courses tailored to the unique African retail environment. This represents the first-ever African foray into a comprehensive, self-paced retail education. Drawing upon the expertise of foremost academics and practitioners from around Africa, the academy paints a vivid portrait of the continent's history, future, and present state of retail.

Role Description
Selected applicants will conduct extensive literature reviews, data collection and analysis and report-writing activities for retail policy development. Most activities will take place virtually although some in-person engagements will be organised.

Duration : 3 months

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct an extensive literature review on the retail policy landscape of Africa.
  • Review existing regulations, laws, and policies relevant to developing Nigeria’s retail sector.
  • Conduct an opinion survey of stakeholders in the sector, including retailers, consumers, government agents, producers, etc.
  • Collate, clean, and analyse survey data.
  • Prepare review as well as survey reports and policy briefs.
  • Attend meetings and events related to the project
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as economics, public policy, or business administration. Note: Master's degree or current enrolment in a relevant graduate program is an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated research experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the retail industry in Nigeria is a plus.
